A cleaner mouth lowers bacterial burden. Follow the person's clinical instructions for positioning, water use, and suction.

## Practical routine

1. Brush teeth, gums, and tongue twice daily with a soft brush.
2. Sit upright with the chin slightly down during oral care.
3. Use minimal water and suction or spit when thin liquids are restricted.
4. Clean dentures nightly and brush the gums underneath.
5. Ask the pharmacist or care team about safe options for dry mouth.
