Why
Crushing destroys the extended-release mechanism and can release a full day's dose at once. This can be fatal. Never crush, split, chew, or dissolve.
What to ask the pharmacist instead
Ask the prescriber about immediate-release oxycodone liquid or other formulations designed for people who cannot swallow tablets.
